Don’t let Bailey Whitton’s age fool you. For a 12-year old he has experienced more than most of us have to deal with in a lifetime. He was born prematurely in Junee NSW, the youngest of five siblings and so began a lifetime of highs and lows. At 18-months old he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, requiring specialist treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital.

And so the first of many trips to Randwick began, with the entire family making the six-hour journey to an unfamiliar city, away from family and friends.

“We were so lucky to be able to have us all there at Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney. It is a real support system. You spend time with other parents that you’ve never met but everyone just comes together to support each other through tough times” Tracy Whitton.

While Bailey still faces ongoing challenges, such as undergoing major orthopaedic surgery on his legs, daily physio and being wheelchair-bound for most of the time, he is the embodiment of resilience and strength, with nothing slowing him down and no hurdle too high.

Bailey has been encouraging his family and friends to become involved in the upcoming RBC Race for the Kids 2019 – join him in raising awareness and funds in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney!
