8 Steps to Becoming a Fundraising Superstar

When you register for RBC Race for the Kids, you can do more for Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney by activating your individual fundraising page.  It is easy and allows you to get as competitive as you want for a great cause.

We know some people feel a bit shy asking for donations, and that's ok! Here are a few tips to help you smash your target and become a fundraising superstar!

We have set a target of $130,000 this year to support seriously ill children and their families, so we need all the help we can get!  Every donation, large or small helps us get one step closer to the finish line – join us in doing more for families that ask for very little.

1. Know why you are racing and what you're fundraising for

Tell your story and share why you are running... Maybe you volunteered at Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney, or perhaps you want to inspire those around you to be fit and healthy.  Make your fundraising personal to you, so it is personal for your family and friends!  Why not download our 'I'm running for...' sign and snap a picture of yourself holding it.

2. Be confident

Your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours will want to support you so ask for their support confidently.  If you have confidence in the cause, they will to!

3. Ask for your employer's support

See if your employer will support you by matching the funds you raise. Many organisations have gift matching programs and will match every dollar for dollar!

4. Hold an event

Hold a fundraising event/activity at work, home or school, getting everyone involved and excited.  Some examples are a pyjama party, garage sale, raffle, bake sale, movie night, ping pong tournament, pancake breakfast or car wash. Have some fun with it!

5. Get SOCIAL

Share your story on your favourite social media platforms and ask your digital community to help you reach your goal. Include your fundraising page link and don't be afraid to post friendly reminders and updates.  Repetition = revenue! Post about your RBC Race for the Kids training progress and keep your family, friends and colleagues engaged in your fundraising journey. Tag #rbcraceforthekids to

6. Contact your biggest supporters

Make a list of your 20 biggest supporters, and then send them a personalised message telling them how any donation – both large and small – will make a direct impact on the lives of seriously ill children and their families at Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney.  Don’t forget your individual donation link!

7. Consider a celebration donation

If you have a special occasion coming up, such as a birthday or special anniversary, you can suggest to your family and friends that instead of a gift, a donation to RBC Race for the Kids is the perfect way to say ‘I love you’.

8. Say THANKS over and over (and over)!

Thank everyone individually for supporting you - write on their facebook wall, give a shout out to them on Instagram stories, or write them a hand-written note they can proudly pop on the fridge. They are legends for supporting you and deserve a big thank you!

After the event, celebrate your achievement and the financial support provided to Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney by thanking everyone who put wind in your sails!
